See my signature, I'm getting kind of tired of typing it all out on all these websites, lol!  ;D

Those are my three computers worth mentioning.

The first computer is in a Coolermaster Centurion 534, and the second computer is in a HP case as it is an HP.

Current game titles have pushed my machine out of LANs:

It can't run CoD4, BioShock, and UT3 for example

Windows XP Pro SP2 (SP3, maybe later)
AMD Athlon XP 3200+
Zalman CNPS 7000B- CU cooler
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo
2 Gig. OCZ DDR PC3200 with 2.0-3-2-5 timings
ATi Readeon X800XT Platinum Ed. Yes, it is AGP  :( (I added an Artic Cooling Silencer 4 GPU and ram cooler)
Fatal1ty branded Creative X-fi sound card
Logitech Z-680 5.1 digital speakers
WD 74 GB Raptor  SATA  HDD
Segate 320 GB SATA HDD for storage
Plextor PX-708A DVD/CD burner
Antec TruePower 480 PSU
Cheftec Dragon tower case w/side window
Fatal1ty Pro Laser mouse
Logitech keyboard
ViewSonic VA902b LCD monitor

I have 2 installs of XP on this thing.

2nd install:

WD 80BG HDD
WD 40GB for backup OS image storage.
Both are in Vantec 5in. exterior bay lockable hard drive enclosures. I power off the system, turn off the drives w/ encluded key and power on to the game set-up when its time to get my frag on. BIOS has a boot order of HDD-0 then SCSI (which is SATA controller)

Must.........get..........a.........job........Buy............new........system......ugh......

True but I got some DDR2 cheap, 2 Gigs for like 23 bucks (800mhz) but my old desktop still uses DDR 400 and that stuff is still expensive compared to DDR2 :(

I know this is kind of a late posting, but I wasn't sure if anyone had any upgrade suggestions...

Here are my specs, to the best of my knowledge:

Dell GX260(?)
CPU - Intel P4 1.8Ghz
RAM - 1G
80 G Seagate HDD
Nvidia 256 MB 6800 GT(?) AGP 4x
450W Power supply
dvd/cd combo drive

Not sure what else you need...anyway, I was considering upgrading the CPU and I wasn't sure if anyone has had any experience with doing this and if they had any suggestions...

Thanks!

CPU wise you will have to stick with a P4 most likely but you could double your speed easily and cheaply if you can find some high Gz P4s.

Title: Re: What are your specs?
Post by: Renegade on October 08, 2008, 03:16:41 AM
Kicking memory up to 2g will help alot, and then see about finding like a 2.8 or high p4.  Just make sure your board will support the speed you get.
