Post by: Renegade on May 28, 2008, 05:27:05 PM
Hey all thought I would post a little about the network equipment and servers we will be using at all the NeXus LAN events.

Switches

Core switch - managed 16 port gigabit switch.  All switches will uplink to here at gigabit.  Server row will connect in here at gig as well.

Table switches are managed 24 port with 2 gig uplink ports.

Network backbone is gigabit, all clients will connect at 100m.

Servers

Primary Core server (nexus)   = P4 2.4, 1.5 gig ram, gig ethernet running Microsoft Server 2003

Fileserver (fileserver)              = P4 2.8, 2 gig ram, gig ethernet, 1 Tb storage space running FreeNAS.

Game server 1 (caprica)          = Core 2 duo 2.2, 2 gig ram, gig ethernet running Windows XP Pro.

Game server 2 (centauri)        = AMD X2 64, 2 gig ram, gig ethernet running Windows XP Pro.

All game servers pre-setup and tested for COD 4, UT 2k4, UT 3, TF2, HL2, BF2, BF2142, Crysis (Caprica only), Fear, Quake 2.   Also Ventrilo and Teamspeak.

We have 3 can support up to 75 players.   We also have access to several more from the school if needed.
