Title: Re: 360 Red Ring of Death Post by: spyware89 on March 26, 2013, 03:40:44 PM My roommate in college kept having this happen, I think he went through 4 or 5 systems, heat causes the CPU to separate over time I guess. This is what we did to fix it after we got it back the last time his warranty was valid... obviously this would have voided any warranty. Anyway, it wasn't pretty, but it used 2 120 mm fans, some grills, a dremel tool, old AC power adapter with a 12v output, solder, and about 20 minutes. If you are desperate to keep your 360 running cool for awhile and don't care how it looks...

I did'nt think the factory warranty would still be in effect for a console old enough to have it start falling apart... Title: Re: 360 Red Ring of Death Post by: spyware89 on March 26, 2013, 04:36:28 PM Thanks :) The thing with the warranties was they weren't old systems, at the time we were in an un air conditioned dorm room, and we couldn't control the radiator in winter, so it was constantly about 90 degrees, so he would basically red ring a system every 2 months, even only playing it a few hours a week. They might have added more cooling in later models, this was 3 years ago maybe. I'm sure a modification like that could be polished quite a bit, I have even seen water cooled ones online, but at what point do you just decide 'time to get a PC' particularly with an XBOX
