Title: Servers?
Post by: code on February 27, 2013, 09:11:54 PM
Hello,

I have a dedicated server that I run at my office and was wondering if it would be ok to bring.

I host games such as
Counter-Strike 1.6
Counter-Stike GO
Quake 3  & Quake 3 Rocket Arena.
Team Fortess 2

Any other game suggestions? I am open to them. (Such as whatever is picked for the tourneys, to help admins out)

Is this something that is frowned upon, or open for discussion?

Thanks!
Matt

You may bring a server it will need to be headless and put on server row as each table's power is for the PC's only.

Thanks for the quick response Renegade,
I will then bring the server. I look forward to meeting you.

(If anyone would want any dedicated servers ran) let me know. I have about every game / can get it.

Thanks.

Do you take suggestions on the TF2 server, and are you able to make changes on the fly to the map rotation and respawn times. It's never fun playing with only 9 other people with a 45 sec respawn timer in a pushcart map...
Thanks for brining the server, it's always good to have options!

Yeah definitely, I will have a remote setup so I can make changes and rcon to the servers.

I don't play much TF2, only the occasional 24/7 fort with 10-15sec respond time.
What did you have in mind?

If you can throw up a UT2k4 server up with the TAM mod, that'd be excellent. :)  I don't know how much action it'll get as the community seems to favor instagib usually but I still play it.

I'm always a fan of 1-2 sec respawn on push cart maps, but if it had rock the vote installed, the people playing could help direct what maps are available. Some maps can be played with only 4-6 people, but not with long respawn times. Thanks for brining the server.

Ill look into UT2K4, as I have never ran a server for it.  :)

I already have UT2k4 installed on the NeXus server so I have that covered.

Perfect, I will not bother with that then.

I have been doing some testing and installing stuff with the server I will be bringing.

I have installed 4 CS:GO Classic Competitive servers on it. ( I will only be running 1-2 of them during open gaming ) Only reason I installed 4 is just in case I was asked to run the tournament servers.
Those servers have a mod called WarMod, this is a more complete competitive plugin rather then the basic one. (Ready System / Live on 3 script, etc) If you play on ESEA you would know what I am talking about.
More information about it is here: http://www.gametech.com.au/product/warmod
The servers will also be 128tick rate.

I also have 1 casual play CS:GO server that will be just a basic server with rock the vote on it and some custom maps.

I am currently testing a TF2 CTF server. This server will have rock the vote on it and be available during the whole time of the lan.

This is a new server that I have purchased and hopefully will bring great results.
specs of the server:

Intel  Xenon CPU E5-2440 @ 2.40GHz (2processors)
Memory: 24GB
64bit Windows 2008 RS2
duel gig lan.

If you guys have any other suggestions I would love to hear them.

Thanks,
Matt "code"
