Now how do they do prizes at the neXus LAN?  Because at LANOC they do prizes by raffles only, is it the same here or are they given out during tournaments?  Also what did the guy that won the mobo/cpu combo from the last LAN do to get those?  Shocked

Prizes are all given away at the midnight raffle.   Starting with the highest value items and working down.    Usually the 1st item pulled for is the motherboard/processor if Intel has given a combo for the lan or what ever item is the highest value.   This is done so that everyone has the same chance on the large item(s) and their ticket is not pulled for some low end item giving them no shot at the large items.

Tournaments are all random teams and the winners do recieve some items usually all on the team will get an energy drink and then an item will be raffled to someone on the team etc but those prizes are all decided day of the event based on what is in the prize pool.

There are other things at times given away thru the day like the pre-registration raffle prize, or if a sponsor has asked for a specific kind of tournament or raffle to be done.  For instance at the last event Intel also brought 5 dual core 775 processors and asked that they be given out to the people at the event with the lowest speed processors that had a motherboard that would accept the 775's that the had brought that day.  So 5 people got on the spot processor upgrades that day.

NeXus was designed to be a fun LAN that is not based on prizes for tournaments.   We wanted everyone in tournaments to be on equal footing and not have the same teams winning over and over from LAN to LAN hence the random teams setup etc.  This is also why we setup with raffles for the donated prizes vs large items for tournaments.
