TL;DR Tournament Guidelines

Work in progress.  If you've been around a while, you know what to expect.  If you're new, please review.

The Black

  • Only sign up for tournaments if you plan on playing in them and sticking it out.
  • Patch your games and ensure they run and have proper settings prior to the LAN.
  • Sign up for tournaments as early as you can, it makes our job much easier.
  • We are an inclusive environment.  Toxic behavior is not acceptable.
  • No, we're not going to (intentionally) put you on a team with your friend.
  • Yes staff can play in tournaments, no there's no favoritism.  We have guidelines, and no we won't tell you what they are.
  • If you have network issues, it's probably not us, but let us know.  Before the tournament.
  • If we have internet issues, it sucks, but it happens.  It's probably not us.  We're probably already aware.
  • Be honest and accurate when filling out the tournament questionnaire during signup, not doing so wastes time.

The White

  • Use discord team channels.
  • If you have to leave or need to pull from a tournament prior to the start, let us know.
  • Meet with your team prior, add them on steam if required.
  • Be the person that steps up and gets your team organized.
  • If you hear us calling for your friend, please let that person know.
  • If you're not sure about something, please ask staff.

The Gray

Understand it's our intention to ensure that participants enjoy tournaments.  We're also aware there are some sweet prizes on the line. Stuff happens.  We'll deal with the situation as best as we can that's as fair as we can make it and creates a competitive environment.  Both sides have opinions and we'll hear them both before any decision is made.  We want to be fair to both the players and our sponsors.  One side probably won't like our decision, but that's fine.

Sometimes we start tournaments late.  There are many reasons why.  Most of the time it's because people leave, sign up late, or are not prepared.  Please don't be that person.  If you need to go somewhere for a few minutes during a tournament, let a friend or team-mate know so we're not begging for you to grace us with your presence.  Our goal is to post teams on the forum 15 minutes after lockdown.  We rarely hit this goal as we end up trying to hunt a few people down for another team.  If you're left out of the tournament but signed up for it, it's because you signed up late and we couldn't find enough for another team.  Sorry.  Sign up earlier.

Don't like your team?  Sorry, but it'll probably happen again if that's your feeling.  There's a method to our madness, and 99.9% of the people are pretty cool about it.
