I have some exciting news for everyone.  We are in discussion with Time Warner and more than likely will have an internet connection of up to 90MBIT (both ways) at our next LAN.  We are also talking about allocating a decent amount of bandwidth for offical NeXus LAN internet game servers.

This of course does not mean we will be opening the net for torrent leaching or anything like that but it does mean, no net lag when needing to download patches, game demos, browsing, etc while at the LAN.  This will also come in handy for games including future ones that require going out on the NET even at a LAN (Star Craft 2 for example).

Even if we do not get the full 90MBIT we will still have the 20MBIT that is now at Mound St.  So eitherway it will be at least 10 times faster than before.

I missed this post before the LAN. At around 1am or maybe it was later,  I hear action say the Time Warner guy is leaving and the internet is going down (he put us back on a slower net) so I missed my chance to leech.

Actually we did not switch from the 90megabit until around 4am.  Then it went to 10Mbit so not many people even noticed Smiley

Though when you have that many people the 90MBIT definitely was nice.  I did not notice any internet slow down at all and it was being hit quite a bit.
