Nvidia is still the king of the hill these days, although ATI came really close recently.

Depends, ATI has been keeping up recently with the ATi Radeon HD 4870. Im typically a Nvidia guy, but lately they've really been disappointing me.
I buy whatever is a reasonable price and great on the benchmarks, its up to you to do your homework before buying.

I've got my Rig and not changing a thing. Intel i7 920, Kingston HyperX DDR3 RAM, Asus Rampage II Extreme MB, BFG 295 video. Just wondered what everyone else was running.

I really like it, i had the 8800GTS OC for a while and it ran really really hot. This card is more massive but seems to run much cooler. Once Asus releases a bios update and i can run my intel i7 975 i may call my buddy at BFG and get him to send me a 2nd card just to see what sort of Score i can get.

Yea, how the hell can you guys afford all this new hardware?
Besides, slapping 1.7gb of ram doesnt make any difference until you hit higher resolutions, and even then if you have a monitor that can even support it.
In my opinion its throwing away money for a card that will be outdated in a few months.

There are much more reviews of the card out there:
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-295-preview/
for example.
It is the top dog but as Modius states pretty expensive. Though not as expensive as new cards normally are initially which surprises me.

I started out as an ATI guy. Moving along to the AIW series. Then nVidia did take over the market, but I've been loving the ATI Radeon HD series.

IMO, It seems like Nvidia has been acting careless to try to keep up the lead in the Graphics market. ATI is guilty of this too. The Geforce 9 Series was a joke. You know they silently released a GTX 100 series? Also anyone here that lives in cincinnati thats been to microcenter? Just went out there the other night to browse, they dont carry new cards and they overcharge for the 9800GTX and 4850. Although I did see a Nvidia 9600GT with 1gb of ram on it for about 100 dollars. Thought it was interesting but didnt do any research on it. Wouldn't buy it personally.

I have a few friends from college that work in the business and I get a decent discount on my hardware.
