Title: Check Date of 1st Event
Post by: =[TN]= Venus_Wong on May 03, 2008, 03:04:06 PM
hey that's a great price ($10) for 32 days of gaming. You might want to correct the date for the 1st event in June posted on the NeXus front page. It reads June 7 to July 8. ;D

But I guess that can be confusing.  I will change the programming on the database that if it is not over 24 hours between begin date and end date to only show the time.  So it would be like June 7th 10:00am - 3:00am..  Would that be better?

Its not how it list it, its that the ending date is July 8th not June 8th is all.   heheh.   Need to change it to June 8th ending date.

I tried changing it how Action told me to, but it keeps reverting back to July instead of accepting the June listing.

Action, you will need to check this to see what is going on.

LMAO, I did not catch the July and to top it off there was a bug in my admin code... lol  but the bug has been squashed and the date updated.

I still think you (Rod) should do as you suggested and change the code so that if it is not longer than 24 hours, then it should only disply the ending time and not date.  Therefore it should read "June 7, 10:00 am - 3:00 am".  Otherwise, it does sound like it is a 2-day event even though technically it is listed correctly now.

i was thinking maybe after the countdown is over and it is the day of the event that it should say something like the event has started or event comencing or something that way if someone was to go to the website while the event is going on they will see that it IS going on  ...  dunno just a thought

Yep that is exactly what it will do.  It will say "Going On Now!"  I wanted to add something like "Why aren't you there?" as well but there is no room.  But yeah it definitely is programmed to state that the event is currently running.  Then after 1 day it will start counting down to the next event if available.  It is really cool as I have programmed the entire site completely database & dynamic driven when it comes to events, tournaments and registration information so none of us Staff have to worry about changing many pages for the next event.  Someone simply just has to go to the administration and add a new event record and it changes every where.  In fact we can have many future event records and it knows when to show the next event, etc.

Here is a thought. Once it counts down to the event starting we can have next too it the new countdown to the next event saying so many days to the July event and still have the countdown saying the June event has started, and a countdown to 3am when the June event is over.
