My concern with a CSS Tourney is not the tourney itself, but sometimes the players. What I mean by that is most, not all, of the teams that come to play CSS strictly play CSS and nothing else. What I would almost rather see would people come and play multiple games, whatever they may be, as long as it involves other players at the LanParty. Now, I know that opinion may peeve some people off, but as everyone has their opinion, and that happens to be mine. My thought is that since the LanParty invites all people to play different games, it almost seems kind of pointless to go to a LanParty and only play 1 game the whole time.
Well I have been playing here for about 2 weeks. So far here are my thoughts:
1. The Graphics. The graphics in the game rock. They are the most realistic of any game I have seen so far. The landscapes kick ass and the textures look sweet. Character animations are smooth and the details involved are pretty damn cool.
2. Gameplay. Took a bit to get used to. I have played WOW since its inception and it was a bit different layout to get adjusted to. AOC requires more interaction and involvement rather then the click-dead buttons. You actually have to pay attention and keep on your toes. The AI in the game is better then WOW in that if try to attack a single NPC, if there is ANY other NPC within 30-40 ft, they assist your target, unlike WOW.
3. Quests. PRetty much same thing as WOW, but they have something WOW doesnt have, a single-player/destiny mode. You run quests at night without any Multiplayer involvement and no interference or spawn camping/killing to worry about.
4. Gear. I am fairly low level so I can't speak to much on this yet.
5. Classes/Races. The classes overall are different enough to warrant trying them all. However, I was disappointed with the lack of races to choose from. 3, that is it. 3.
Well, back to gaming and let me know if you want any more info.
You may want to check with Action and/or Crashgirl. They do the website development and also graphics work. At least they would have the best info to pull from. As far as a Graphics work interest, right now, as far as I know, besides the current setup of things, we don't have anything like that. Whether or not that changes in the future, is undetermined at this time.
I noticed a huge improvement when I went AMD to Intel Core2. I had a DualCore Athlon and then went Core2 6750 desktop, before I went and sold it get my new laptop of course. The speeds bewteen the two were unbelievable. I would say that not only a CPU update would be warranted, but also a Graphics card.
Hey Cytog, that location is not in Dayton, but Centerville. Like 20 minutes farther south. Closest Marions is actually in Oakwood/Kettering, like a 5-10 min drive.
Internally, I will be running a website during the events and will be posting Sanctioned Tourneys and people can submit their un-official tourneys/servers also.
Right now we have COD4 and Smash tourney's established, and will decide on the other PC tourney. I know everyone can get tired of COD4, but only problem is finding a replacement which is stable, fun, and played by a lot of people, and current. I know we will also be having non-prize or open tourneys/sessions with different games running. We are working on some options as we speak.
The melee system and combat system in AOC is different from wow. More hands-on is required. On Torbold's BLog, he says that you realize you need Macros from all these options, spells, etc.. APparently, you have to click a lot.
