As a compruter hobbyist I am always looking to know more about the numerous components and how they work together. So, my question is if a motherboard has a RAID controller for say, 6 SATA III ports, and I want to attach two SATA III hard drives for a RAID 0 array, are the remaining four connectors usable for another SATA device? Would it be possible to add an optical drive there? I'm thinking that once the array is built then all ports/connectors are tied to that array. Right, wrong? Help me out here peeps.

no you choose which drives to put into the raid, the other ports or devices works as normal.
