Official vs Unofficial Tournaments

Some have wondered what the difference between NeXus LAN official tournaments vs unofficial. Official tournaments are tournaments that are staff ran and supported and winners will receive prizes from our sponsors. These tournaments usually have a set start and end time and all official tournaments will run off of NeXus LAN servers.

Unofficial tournaments are run by a member of the community and are not necessarily supported by NeXus LAN staff in terms of running the server, prizes, etc. However a staff member may be the member who runs the tournament as any member of the NeXus LAN community may run unofficial tournaments. And some members even supply prizes. We try to post unofficial tournaments on our tournaments list but since most do not form until the day of the event, it is impossible to post every tournament on the website.

I also want to point out, just because your favorit game is not listed as an official or unofficial tournament does not mean the game will not be played at the event. So always bring your favorite games as there will always be others who will play the game with you and some unofficial tournaments may not be announced until the event.
